Our Centennial wasn't not just a milestone for AH&LA, but a celebration of the industry’s legacies and a commitment to the next generation of hospitality leaders. And our calendar reflected just that.
Kicking off at the Inaugural Gala honoring AH&LA Incoming Chairman David Kong and extending all the way throughout 2010, events and initiatives across the country took place – and everyone was invited.

This official kickoff occurred amidst the AH&LA Fall Conference held in conjunction with the International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show. Filled with live music, guests from virtually every major brand, appearances by past AH&LA chairmen, and more surprises, this black tie event was capped with remarks from David Kong, president & CEO, Best Western International.

As a means to introduce high school students to the wide range of exciting opportunities found in the hotel industry, AH&LA has long since embraced this annual event, but in 2010 we took it up a notch. The association aggressively committed to reaching out to 100 schools throughout 2010, to build off the Centennial’s momentum to generate more participation in National Groundhog Job Shadow Day than ever before.
We encouraged our members to participate in this event by allowing students to tour their facilities or to offer themselves as speakers to local high schools. For more information on participating, click here.

IHLA’s annual black tie event happens to coincide with AH&LA’s birthday and birthplace, so 2010 was an extra special celebration to join peers at Illinois’s most talked about event of the year and witness history in the making.
