AH&LA GOOD EARTHKEEPING PROGRAM HELPS INDUSTRY IMPROVE FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE AND ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP
The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) has partnered with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's ENERGY STAR® to launch Good Earthkeeping. The educational program helps hoteliers improve the energy and financial performance of their properties and demonstrate the environmental leadership of the hospitality industry.
Through the Good Earthkeeping program, hoteliers have access to tools and resources designed to make their hotels more profitable, competitive, and environmentally responsible through increased energy efficiency and ecological stewardship. The program helps hoteliers create a comprehensive strategic approach to energy management that accesses current energy performance, sets goals, tracks savings, and rewards improvements.
"The lodging industry spends almost $4 billion a year on energy, yet much of it goes to waste," said AH&LA President & CEO Joseph A. McInerney, CHA. "The opportunity to contribute positively to the environment and the bottom line is significant. AH&LA's
Good Earthkeeping campaign answers this call with actionable steps."
In addition, the Good Earthkeeping Alliance is a partnership of vendors comprised of American Standard Companies, General Electric, Project Planet, Servidyne, and Whirlpool who support the campaign.
Through the association's partnership with ENERGY STAR®, Good Earthkeeping participants are eligible for national recognition from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
