With 1.8 million employees, $21.6 billion in pretax income, and total industry revenue of $155.5 billion, the lodging industry is one of the main drivers of the economy and 12 straight quarters of growth.  On a much more individual level, this industry is a great place to work, grow, and build a long-lasting and rewarding career.

Stars of the Industry.  This program gives you the opportunity to recognize your exceptional employees and programs. Nominations are open to all members, and there is no better way to show your appreciation to your staff.

Groundhog Job Shadow Day.  This annual, national campaign gives young people an opportunity to see first-hand all of the many opportunities that working in a hotel affords them.  Both properties and students are invited to participate.

Do Your Part to Showcase the Industry.  If you’re interested in touting the many benefits of working in the lodging industry, we’ve got the resources for you, including a sample op-ed and a set of FAQs.  We encourage you to tailor both to include local or state statistics or key points you’d like to make for your particular audience.

Professional Certifications.  EI is widely recognized as the preeminent leader in hospitality certification worldwide and offers the only certification programs that are portable, industry recognized, and endorsed by AH&LA.  The certification program, which encourages upward career growth in the industry, has options beginning at the front-line level and continuing to the general manager level.
  
Professional Scholarships.  Perfect for individuals currently working at a hotel property who want to advance their career by growing their industry knowledge or skill set, AH&LEF’s professional development scholarships provide assistance for distance learning courses and professional certification.  Hotel employees currently enrolled in either of these programs through the Educational Institute are eligible to apply for a scholarship.
