Lincolnshire, Illinois – July 10, 2017 – U.S. Congressman Brad Schneider (D-IL) toured the Lincolnshire Marriott Resort today to meet with employees and see firsthand how the hotel industry plays an integral role in Illinois’ 10th district and beyond. The tour is part of the American Hotel & Lodging Association’s (AHLA) “Heart of the House” hotel tour program, which connects members of Congress with local hoteliers and employees in their congressional district. These personal tours give congressional leaders the opportunity to meet and hear from their constituents in the hospitality business and discuss the industry’s impact on creating long-term careers, encouraging travel and tourism, and boosting economic growth and development.

Hotels are an integral part of the fabric of communities across the Prairie State. As a vibrant tourism destination, the Illinois hotel industry is an economic engine, providing more than 280,000 hospitality jobs, generating over $47 billion in business sales, and contributing $25 billion to the state economy. With over 36 million guest rooms occupied each year, hotel guests spend some $20 billion at local businesses, which goes directly back into the economy. Today’s tour was hosted and led by the Lincolnshire Marriott Resort General Manager, Eric Bates. He was accompanied by Marc Gordon, President and CEO of the Illinois Hotel and Lodging Association (IHLA), a state partner of AHLA, and Tim Molino, a representative of the American Hotel & Lodging Association.

“It was an honor to welcome Representative Schneider to the Chicago Lincolnshire Marriott Resort and showcase the unwavering dedication of the hotel’s associates as they work day and night to achieve superior guest satisfaction, many of whom have worked at the hotel for their entire careers,” said General Manager Eric Bates. “We work hard to create a sense of community here at the Lincolnshire Resort and always enjoy opportunities to partner with the Village of Lincolnshire as we embrace the culture and character of our tranquil village and the surrounding areas.”

The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) engages with members of Congress on the “Heart of the House” hotel tours to provide an in-depth look at the career opportunities available as well as the economic and community impact of the lodging industry.
