Strategic Initiatives Manager


Duties and Responsibilities:

The Strategic Initiatives Manager is a role developed to enhance the executive office capabilities. The goal is to cultivate new relationships, manage projects to deepen and broaden our impact, while leveraging existing partnerships, and ultimately ensure that AHLA can best serve its members. This role is vital to the future growth of AHLA. 

In this position, you will: 

  • Provide project focused support to AHLA’s Executive Office (CEO, COO & Sr. Director) to help advance organizational strategic goals and objectives, such as preparing for key internal and external meetings and conducting the necessary follow-up 
  • Act as liaison with member/partner points of contact for coordination of key meetings and/or conference calls 
  • Conduct research and general analysis on new member and partner prospects 
  • Responsible for ensuring AHLA’s leadership is prepared for making new connections, building new relationships, leveraging existing relationships to broaden our network in order to secure new member and partner sales to grow membership base and new revenues 
  • Evaluate, prepare materials, and develop business development presentations 
  • Work with other AHLA teams to ensure presentations externally position us as best-in-class organization 
  • Collaborate with AHLA staff and current partners to develop and execute projects and plans supporting new growth & member engagement 
  • Seamlessly integrate with AHLA’s Marketing and Communications to put together proposals and other documents needed to support new initiatives 
  • Utilize customer relationship management system database tools to track business development plans/progress and ensure we meet our goals 
  • Support the AHLA Board of Directors and Executive Committee including nominations, meeting preparations, and follow-up as needed 
  • Help manage, plan, execute and ensure follow up of special events, projects, etc.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate field or equivalent work experience

  • Strong interpersonal skills including relationship and trust building, communication and listening, and personal engagement 
  • High professional maturity, diplomatic style 
  • Experience working with senior executives and/or government officials 
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment with an ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously 
  • Exceptional skills in prioritizing and project management, must be highly organized with superior attention to detail and accuracy, flexible work style 
  • High level of comfort in taking initiative and willingness to navigate new situations 
  • Very Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
