Tax Policy

Just as the hotel industry emerges from the pandemic, it now faces complex interrelated challenges in persistent labor shortages, rising costs, and a challenging regulatory environment, among other matters. Many businesses that weathered the pandemic lacked capital to reinvest back in their business, making now a critical moment for tax policies that support an efficient, productive, and competitive marketplace.

Our Position

AHLA supports H.R. 7024, the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act of 2024, specifically the inclusion of the bonus depreciation/full expensing extension and the earnings before tax, interest, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) business interest deductibility fix. We urge Congress to swiftly pass this legislation to enable our employees, businesses, and communities to flourish, while enabling the U.S. to remain home to the most vibrant hospitality in the world. Additionally, we look forward to working with Congress on other critical tax provisions that expire in 2025.

Key Issues

AHLA is the singular voice representing every segment of the hotel industry including major chains, independent hotels, management companies, REIT’s, bed and breakfasts, industry partners and more.
