Trafficking Prevention

No Room for Trafficking is an AHLA Foundation awareness program that builds on the industry’s ongoing commitment and work to end human trafficking. Through elevating, assessing, educating and supporting the fight to end human trafficking, the campaign will ensure hotel employees are continuously developing a better understanding of ways to identify traffickers and potential victims in hotels.

No Room for Trafficking

Our Position

AHLA opposes the use of hotels as detention centers. However, AHLA supports and encourages hoteliers to work with state and federal authorities to combat human trafficking in the following ways:

  • Report suspicious or unusual behavior or booking activity to the appropriate authorities

  • Implement a training program developed or acquired in consultation with a regionally, nationally, or globally recognized organization with expertise in anti-trafficking measures

  • Acquire and display back-of-house indicator signage to further support and reinforce training programs

  • Establish policies and procedures for identifying and reporting suspected trafficking activity

  • Familiarize staff with applicable federal and state laws targeting human trafficking in the hospitality industry and prioritize compliance with state requirements

Key Issues

AHLA is the singular voice representing every segment of the hotel industry including major chains, independent hotels, management companies, REIT’s, bed and breakfasts, industry partners and more.
