AH&LA RECOGNIZES HOTEL PROPERTIES WITH NATIONAL ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS

(Washington, April 14, 2015) - The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) today announced the winners of the AH&LA Stars of the Industry Awards for outstanding hotel properties. Awarded annually since 1966, these awards distinguish individual hotels that have developed outstanding programs, events, and campaigns. Winners were chosen in the categories of Community Service, Special Events, Guest Relations, and Good Earth keeping.

AMERICAN HOTEL & LODGING ASSOCIATION, NATIONAL RESTAURANT ASSOCIATION JOIN FORCES ON PRESSING ISSUES FACING HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY

(Washington, D.C., April 7, 2015) - For the first time, the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) and the National Restaurant Association (NRA) will join forces and bring together 1,000 stakeholders from the lodging and restaurant industries for a joint Washington hospitality Hill day. The partnership, announced today, will focus on raising awareness with lawmakers about the strength of the lodging and restaurant industries and showcase the meaningful impact hospitality has on job creation and our nation's economy.

(March 26, 2015) - The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA), the sole national association representing all segments of the 1.8 million-employee lodging industry, today praised the Maryland Senate for passing legislation to ensure online travel agencies pay taxes on rooms just as brick-and-mortar hotels are expected to pay. 

HOTEL INDUSTRY PRESSES FOR PROGRESS TO STOP PATENT TROLLS IN HOUSE, SENATE HEARINGS

(March 19, 2015) - The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA), the sole national association representing all segments of the 1.8 million-employee lodging industry, continues to put pressure on Congress to pass legislation to stop the abuse of patent trolls, entities which deliberately attempt to extort money from hotels and from many industry sectors across the nation's economy.

(March 18, 2015) - Yesterday, the Supreme Court of Hawai'i issued its opinion on a case brought by the State of Hawai'i against online travel agencies for a failure to pay taxes dating back to 2000.
