Hoteliers Urge Congress: Act Now on Workforce Challenges, Certainty for Small Businesses, and Bolstered Travel Demand

Washington, D.C. (May 13, 2026) – More than 300 hotel owners, operators, general managers, and suppliers travelled to Washington this week to urge congressional leaders about the need to support and strengthen the hotel industry which provides billions of dollars in economic activity to communities across America. American Hotel and Lodging Association (AHLA) members voiced the industry’s top concerns regarding the mounting challenges that continue to impact U.S. hospitality – from regulatory uncertainty around franchising to staffing shortages and rising operating costs.

New Report: New Orleans Hotel Industry Generates Nearly $9 Billion in Economic Impact, Supports More than 51,000 Louisiana Jobs

New Orleans, Louisiana (April 27, 2026) – The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) today released a new economic impact study showing that the hotel industry in the City of New Orleans generated nearly $9 billion in total economic impact in 2025, supported more than 51,000 jobs, and contributed $1.2 billion in total taxes. The study, conducted by Oxford Economics, underscores the outsized role the hotel industry plays in driving the city’s economy.
