DOL Proposed Overtime Rule Webinar
On August 30, the Department of Labor announced a proposed rule that would increase the minimum salary threshold that executive, administrative, or professional workers must make in order to be exempt from federal overtime pay requirements. The overtime salary threshold was increased from $35,568 to $60,209 in 2024—a nearly 70% increase. The proposal would also implement automatic threshold increases every three years, tied to wage inflation. This proposed rule would force businesses to absorb the cost increases, reclassify many workers from salaried to hourly, reduce opportunity and workplace flexibility, and consolidate many positions.
