In its fourth year, this program connects members of Congress to a lodging facility in their district for the opportunity to gain insights as to how the industry creates jobs, offers a pathway for lifelong careers, and enhances the local economy and community.

Chicago Hotel Jobs Drive City Growth, Revenue

(Chicago, IL. – March 22, 2017) The Illinois Hotel and Lodging Association (IHLA) and the American Hotel and Lodging Association (AHLA) today released a report by Oxford Economics analyzing the economic impact of the hotel industry to the City of Chicago. The report underscores the significant contributions lodging provides to the city, generating some $2 billion in federal, state and local taxes every year and supporting nearly 90,000 local jobs.

World Wildlife Fund, American Hotel & Lodging Association And The Rockefeller Foundation Bring Hotel Brands Together To Prevent Hotel Food Waste

(Washington, D.C. – March 21, 2017)World Wildlife Fund (WWF), with support from The Rockefeller Foundation, and the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA), today launched a series of pilot projects aimed at further reducing food waste in the hotel industry. WWF and AHLA developed the projects in conjunction with a working group from AHLA’s Food & Beverage Committee and Sustainability Committee.

March 2017 -- A new report outlining the dangers to states and municipalities of the tax agreements some have been entering into with lodging behemoth Airbnb has been released today, Tuesday, March 7th. Tax administration expert Dan R. Bucks, who was Executive Director of the Multistate Tax Commission and ran the Montana Dept. of Revenue authored the study.
