Washington, D.C. – September 7, 2016 – The U.S. travel industry joined forces today, urging Congress to immediately approve emergency funding to address the increased threat of the Zika virus. Together, the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) and U.S. Travel Association sent a letter to Congressional leadership urging swift action to help halt the virus’ spread and assist the agencies dealing with its impact.

Albany, New York – September 2, 2016 – U.S. Congressman Paul Tonko (D-NY) today toured the Albany Marriott as part of the American Hotel & Lodging Association’s “Heart of the House” hotel tour program, where members of Congress visit a hotel in their district to gain insight on the industry’s commitment to community partnerships through local job growth, economic contributions and development opportunities.

Lansing, MI – August 31, 2016 – U.S. Congressman Tim Walberg (R-MI) visited the Crowne Plaza Lansing West today as part of a hotel tour program called the “Heart of the House,” which connects members of Congress to a hotel in their district to learn more about the hospitality industry’s contributions to creating jobs and supporting local communities, while also hearing firsthand about the challenges the industry faces. Corcoran, Jr. chairman of the board and co-founder of FelCor Lodging Trust, will be honored with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the Americas Lodging Investment Summit (ALIS), January 23-25, 2017, in Los Angeles. This prominent award is presented to an individual who has made significant contributions to the hospitality industry through their actions, deeds, and great accomplishments.

Washington, D.C. – August 30, 2016 - The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) today announced the appointment of Jason Brewer as vice president government affairs and strategic initiatives. Brewer is a veteran communications and political affairs professional, having spent the last decade assisting elected officials, candidates and organizations with strategic planning and message development. He officially joins AH&LA on August 31.
