Manika holds 20 years of payment experience across the payments value chain, from issuing to acceptance and acquiring. Manika joined Planet in 2019 to drive Planet’s ambition to become a payment provider and launch merchant acquiring, for both card present and ecommerce. Being involved in several acquisitions including two payment gateways and their integration into Planet, Manika accelerated the ambition to drive and grow payment products and overall Planet proposition into integrated payments.

Caroline is a partner in Cooley’s antitrust team in London. Caroline’s practice focuses on providing clients with strategic competition law and regulatory advice. She represents clients seeking merger control and foreign direct investment (FDI) clearances, and has extensive experience with UK and European Union merger control processes, and the coordination of global merger and FDI filings. She also guides clients on competition law risk management and compliance strategies in respect of pricing, distribution, licensing and joint venture arrangements.

WASHINGTON (June 11, 2024) – The U.S. House of Representatives today passed the No Hidden FEES Act, a major American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) legislative priority that would ensure lodging cost transparency for consumers.

The legislation would establish a comprehensive single standard for transparent and mandatory fee displays across the lodging industry – from short-term rental platforms, to online travel agencies, metasearch sites, and hotels.

76% of surveyed hotels report staffing shortages

WASHINGTON (June 10, 2024) – More than three-quarters of surveyed hotels are experiencing a staffing shortage, and hotels are increasing pay, benefits, and perks to recruit and retain employees, according to a May survey of hoteliers conducted by the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA).

Over the last six months, 86% of respondents have increased wages, 52% have offered greater flexibility with hours, and 33% have expanded benefits to cope with the nationwide workforce shortage. Nonetheless, 79% say they are still unable to fill open positions.
