HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY ADDS 45,000 JOBS IN JULY

The report signaled significant growth for the hospitality and leisure sector, where 45,000 jobs were added in July.

Washington, D.C., July 18, 2016 — Minaz Abji, Executive Vice President of Asset Management for Host Hotels & Resorts, contributed $10,000 to the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Foundation (AH&LEF) 2016 Annual Giving Campaign, marking his fifth consecutive personal annual gift at the highest giving designation of Leadership Level. HOTEL INDUSTRY PRAISES REP. SCHRADER OVERTIME BILL, CALLS FOR CONGRESSIONAL ACTION
Washington, D.C. – July 15, 2016 – The American Hotel and Lodging Association (AH&LA) and the Oregon Restaurant and Lodging Association (ORLA) issued the following statements on the introduction of Rep. Kurt Schrader’s (OR-5) legislation H.R. 5813, the Overtime Reform and Enhancement Act. The legislation would phase-in over three years the Department of Labor’s new overtime rule, which currently would raise the overtime threshold for eligible employees by December 1, 2016 from $23,660 to $47,476.
