HOTEL INDUSTRY URGES SWIFT PASSAGE OF KEY TOURISM PROMOTION LEGISLATION

The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA), the sole national association representing all segments of the 1.8 million-employee lodging industry, thanks Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Roy Blunt (R-MO) and Congressmen Gus Bilirakis (R-FL) and Peter Welch (D-VT) for today introducing legislation to extend the Travel Promotion Act of 2009 until FY 2020 and reauthorize Brand USA, and issued the following statement:

The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA), the sole national association representing all segments of the 1.8 million-employee lodging industry, applauds today's ruling by the Wyoming Supreme Court that online travel companies (OTCs) should remit sales and lodging tax on the full booking price of hotel rooms and issued the following statement:

HOTEL INDUSTRY URGES PASSAGE OF YOUNG 40-HOUR BILL

The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA), the sole national association representing all segments of the 1.8 million-employee lodging industry, urges the U.S. House of Representatives to pass The Save American Workers Act (H.R. 2575), introduced by Congressman Todd Young (R-IN). This legislation will provide much-needed stability for hotels, inns, and resorts and allow the industry to continue as a driver of economic growth.

AH&LA RECOGNIZES HOTELS WITH NATIONAL ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS

The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) today announced the winners of the AH&LA Achievement Awards, part of the annual Stars of the Industry Awards. These awards, awarded annually since 1966, distinguish individual hotels that have developed outstanding programs, events, and campaigns. Winners were chosen in the categories of Community Service, Special Events, Guest Relations, Good Earthkeeping, and Technology Innovation.

AH&LA HONORS OUTSTANDING HOTEL EMPLOYEES WITH ANNUAL STARS OF THE INDUSTRY AWARDS

At today's American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) Stars of the Industry Awards breakfast, hotel employees were honored for their outstanding accomplishments, service, and leadership in the lodging industry. The awards were presented to Outstanding Lodging Employees, Managers, and General Managers in three property size categories, as well as to the winner of the Women in Lodging Connect Leader of the Year Award, the Stevan Porter Emerging Hospitality Leader of the Year Award, and the Student Member and Student Chapter of the Year.

HUNDREDS OF HOTELIERS TO DESCEND ON CAPITOL HILL FOR AH&LA LEGISLATIVE ACTION SUMMIT

The American Hotel & Lodging Association's (AH&LA's) annual Legislative Action Summit (LAS), April 1-2, at the JW Marriott in Washington, D.C., brings together hundreds of hotel owners, senior executives of corporate brands, management companies, independent hoteliers, and general managers who will engage in important policy discussions with their industry peers and colleagues.

LODGING INDUSTRY AGGRESSIVELY TAKING ACTION ON 911 DIRECT DIAL THROUGH

As a result of the Kari's Law petition and recent industry action to address emergency services dialing, Katherine Lugar, president/CEO, of the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) issued the following statement:

"The safety and security of our guests and employees is paramount to hoteliers. The ability for guests to dial 911 directly from a guestroom is a top priority, and AH&LA has moved quickly to convene an industry taskforce of more than 50 lodging executives with expertise in telecommunications and security to address this goal.
