SENATORS BEGICH, COLLINS TO BE HONORED WITH AH&LA CHAMPIONS OF THE INDUSTRY AWARD

The American Hotel & Lodging Association, the sole national association representing all segments of the 1.8 million-employee lodging industry, announces that Senators Mark Begich (D-AK) and Susan Collins (R-ME) have been named the association's 2014 Champions of the Industry. The two will receive their awards at a special reception during the association's Legislative Action Summit (LAS) on Tuesday, April 1, at 5:00 p.m. at the JW Marriott in Washington, D.C.

MORE THAN $545,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE THROUGH AH&LEF

The American Hotel & Lodging Educational Foundation (AH&LEF) will dispense more than $545,000 to hospitality management students and lodging employees for the 2014 academic year through a wide array of scholarship programs.

HOTEL INDUSTRY PRAISES SENATE VOTE TO STOP AMBUSH ELECTIONS

Washington, D.C. (March 4, 2015) - The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA), the sole national association representing all segments of the 1.8 million-employee lodging industry, today welcomed Senate passage of legislation to overturn the National Labor Relations Board's (NLRB's) recent ambush elections rule. This rulemaking currently limits the rights of both employees and employers in the hotel industry and others, and jeopardizes businesses' ability to continue growing and creating jobs. 

MAIN STREET PATENT COALITION TALKS PATENT REFORM AT WHITE HOUSE

More than a dozen members of the Main Street Patent Coalition (MSPC) participated in a patent reform discussion at the White House today including representatives from the restaurant, retail, credit union, and realtor industries across the country. The MSPC represents hundreds of thousands of small businesses united against a common enemy and in support of a common cause. Today's event was a valuable opportunity for these main street businesses to discuss the damage patent trolls are doing and the tools they need to fight back.

AH&LA NAMES 2014 BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) has named the 2014 board of directors. All members are new to the board of directors, which is comprised solely of C-level lodging executives representing the full scope of the lodging sector, including brands, owners and REITs, management companies, independents, and state associations. The AH&LA board meets twice yearly to discuss a broad range of industry and association-related issues.
